FAQ'S

(1) How do I find more about Aussies?

The Australian Terrier Club of Great Britain issues a series of leaflets covering major points about the breed. These are available free from the Club Secretary - contributions to the postage greatly appreciated. Contact the Secretary - Brenda Brown at 237 Biggar Road, Newarthill, motherwell, Lanarkshire, ML1 5LX, Scotland. If you want to see Aussie's in the 'flesh', the Club has a network of members who are willing to help. Also the Kennel Club organises the Discover Dog Exhibitions in London and Birmingham each year. This provides an opportunity to see the Aussie and any other breed you are considering.

(2) Do Aussies mix with children, cats, livestock .....

A question we are always asked - a picture speaks more than words.

(3) Are they easy to train?

Australian Terriers tend to be a breed which delights in pleasing it's owner. As a consequence they do respond well to training. Many owners have taken part in the KC Good Citizen Scheme, local obedience classes and agility with their Aussies and they have achieved success.

(4) Are they easy to look after?

Aussies being small do not need miles of walking each day, although many owners will confirm their Aussies are quite happy to do it!. They do not have a coat which involves six weekly trips to the grooming parlour or major hand stripping sessions on a regular basic. Health wise, the KC working group confirmed there are no know inherited health problems associated with British bred Aussies.

(5) If I want an Aussie, are they easy to find?

No. At the most 50 Aussies are born a year, so often there is a wait of up to 6 months if you are very specific in your requirements. The Club operates a register and when a suitable pup becomes available the two parties are linked together. The route is successful and to register you need to contact the Secretary :- e-mail address ralindi@hotmail.com
